thevine, an upcoming hybrid murder game set to open on February 20th! This is a short term game where characters signed a contract with a world renown (wait, which world????) media company to participate in their upcoming reality TV show, The Vine, in exchange for the grand prize: their greatest desire. With the help of their team leader and teammates, contestants will participate in various challenges to draw the attention of sponsors and entertain their incredibly rich, incredibly parasocial viewers. Of course, the audience demands a lot out of their beloved stars, from silly skits to your personal fears and trauma on display to - gasp, murder? Well, surely the murder part is just incredible special effects. Or maybe it isn't, but don't worry too much about it! You'll be fine. This is what you signed up for, baybeeee.
Like most of its predecessors, this game is currently projected to last a total of 8-weeks and is set to accommodate up to 40 players.
Now, what does a hybrid murder game mean? It means we're gonna do halfsies - murder one week, and an optional bite-sized event the next. ✦ As of now, we are enforcing an 16+ age limit! There won't be heavy sexual themes or content in The Vine (as in this is not a fuckgame), but you can probably expect some adult shenanigans in prompts and events. The life of a star is filled with temptations, you know? So if you're not comfortable with engaging with that content while playing someone below 18, this is your head's up.
✦ Unless you're playing Amnesiac McGee, characters will appear as if they've been pulled from their current canon point with the knowledge that they agreed to be here. However, it's possible that they spaced out, skimmed the details and didn't quite understand what they were signing up for. To provide examples, some potential scenarios could be...
✦ They thought it was a joke, a dream, a vision, or even a hallucination when the offer was made to them.
✦ They signed a contract in a past canon point, and then were pulled much later down the line at their current canon point.
✦ Maybe their people pleasing tendencies got the better of them and they signed the contract to make the recruiter go away...?
✦ Or they were just that desperate for a miracle.
✦ If your character wouldn't normally agree and you need help coming up with the circumstances in which your character might end up here, don't hesitate to reach out to us!
✦ Characters will have been given some warning of the risk of grievous bodily harm, though perhaps the way the recruiter said it was so nonchalant that characters would not be blamed for overlooking that detail or failing to delve further into it. Regardless, you'll be fine! Don't even worry about it!
✦ There will be teams in this game, all vying for the grand prize: to have their greatest wish granted. You will be assigned these teams, so don't worry about it until the game starts!
✦ Should you have any concerns about assignments, however, please don't hesitate to let us know.
✦ Powers will be nerfed upon a character's arrival.
✦ Character cast caps are set by default at three per canon, but we're willing to be flexible on a case-by-case basis, depending on the canon and characters at issue. If a cast is at cap, please talk to the mods!
✦ This game will operate both on RNG'd killers and on murder proposals. There may be some bribes, situations and ultimatums that come up that challenge characters and push them into doing the unthinkable. Keep in mind that there will only be four trials in total, including tutorial. If you want to kill, then please plan accordingly!
✦ With that in mind, while it's easier to have a character that would be willing the kill, this is not entirely necessary! Characters should have some negative qualities to draw from, but pures will be able to murder just as well as antagonists.✦ Interested?

This game will run on an invite-only basis. If you received an invite from Quynn, Flurry, or Sisi, you're golden. If any slots are still available after our initial round of invites, we will allow players to hit us up with suggestions for anyone they may wish to invite. Please be sure to ask your mods before extending any +1s! At this point, we think it is unlikely there will be many +1 slots if any.
